(HOUSTON, TX) -- Kirstyn Jackson-Philpot was only 10-years-old in 2015 when she started Kirstyn's Krew, a non-profit organization that helps foster children receive Christmas presents.

Rather hear the story?

As a former foster child, Kirstyn knew firsthand what it was like to feel lonely and forgotten at Christmas. Kirstyn was blessed however as her loving grandparents were able to adopt her.

After being surprised with a Christmas time $200 shopping spree (thanks to Child Advocates and Houston Texans' Jon Weeks), Kirstyn knew that she wanted to help other foster children have the same experience.

Starting with a goal of raising $2000, Kirstyn did chores and made fundraising videos to earn money. Thanks to social media and generous donations from friends and family, Kirstyn was able to raise $8000--enough to treat 40 children with either a shopping spree or by fulfilling a wish list.

Every child received basics like food, socks, clothes, luggage and of course, toys.

Since then, Kirstyn's Krew has raised thousands of dollars and helped hundreds of children.

Kirstyn's heart?

To make sure every child knows that they are loved and cared for.
